About
Samuel P. Taylor Creekside Campground occupies a shaded canyon along Lagunitas Creek in Samuel P. Taylor State Park, one of the oldest recreation areas in Marin County dating to the 1800s. The 25 sites in this loop sit beneath towering coast redwoods, offering a classic California camping experience just 15 miles west of San Rafael via Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. Each campsite includes a fire ring, picnic table, and food locker. Centrally located flush restrooms with coin-operated hot showers serve the loop, and drinking water spigots are distributed throughout. The partially paved Cross Marin Trail runs through the park, popular with cyclists and hikers. Lagunitas Creek hosts federally threatened coho salmon and steelhead, with creek access restricted during spawning season from November through mid-June. Reservations are available through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance. Due to its proximity to the Bay Area and scenic setting, the campground books quickly, especially on weekends and during summer months.
Directions
From San Rafael, take Sir Francis Drake Boulevard west for approximately 15 miles. The park entrance is on the left. Creekside Campground is in the Camp Taylor area near the main entrance.
