About

Gold Bluffs Beach Campground provides a unique coastal camping experience within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, part of the Redwood National and State Parks complex. Set on an open grassy plain adjacent to a vast, secluded stretch of Pacific beach and beneath redwood-topped bluffs, the campground offers 26 reservable sites plus a hike/bike site for non-motorized visitors. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring Fern Canyon's lush vertical walls, observing Roosevelt elk herds that graze the coastal prairie, and accessing more than 75 miles of hiking and biking trails through ancient redwood forests. The wild Pacific coastline offers excellent beachcombing opportunities. Access requires navigating Davison Road, a narrow, winding, single-lane dirt and gravel route that extends 10 miles from Highway 101. Due to road conditions, trailers are prohibited and RVs are limited to 24 feet in length and 8 feet in width. The coastal location means cooler temperatures year-round with frequent morning and evening fog. From May 15 to September 15, permits are required for day-use access to Gold Bluffs Beach and Fern Canyon.
