About
Indian Creek Campground is nestled in the eastern foothills of the Sierra Nevada between Woodfords and Markleeville, spread over 160 acres in a forest of ponderosa, Jeffrey, and pinyon pines. Located on the west bank of Indian Creek Reservoir at 5,600 feet elevation, the campground once provided 30 campsites including an RV/tent loop with 19 sites accommodating RVs up to 34 feet, a walk-to tent loop with 10 sites, and a group campsite for up to 40 campers. The area offers abundant recreation opportunities including fishing in the reservoir and the nearby East Fork of the Carson River, which is managed as a trophy fishery. Other activities include hiking, mountain biking, sailing, white-water rafting, and wildlife viewing. Summers are warm and dry with daytime temperatures occasionally reaching 90 degrees Fahrenheit, while evenings remain cool. The surrounding landscape features waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, and access to nearby attractions like the Tahoe Rim Trail, Hope Valley, and Blue Lakes.
