About
Located in the stunning Indian Creek area of Bears Ears National Monument, the Superbowl Group Site offers a remote camping experience surrounded by towering Wingate Sandstone cliffs and dramatic desert scenery. The site accommodates groups of 10 to 30 people with space for approximately 10 vehicles, making it well-suited for climbing parties, scout troops, or family reunions exploring this internationally renowned destination.
The campground sits along Indian Creek, a typically dry wash lined with cottonwood trees that provide welcome shade in this high desert environment. Notable landmarks visible from the area include Lavender Mesa, Bridger Jack Mesa, and the iconic North and South Six Shooter Peaks. The site is positioned about 6.5 miles southeast of Canyonlands National Park's Needles District and 13.5 miles northwest of Newspaper Rock, an impressive panel of ancient petroglyphs.
Facilities are basic but functional: a fire ring, picnic tables, a shade structure, and vault toilets. There is no drinking water, cell service, or hookups. Visitors should arrive fully prepared with adequate water supplies and their own firewood, as wood collection is prohibited. The Indian Creek area remains primitive and undeveloped, which is part of its appeal for those seeking solitude amid spectacular red rock country.
Directions
Turn west off U.S. Route 191 onto Utah State Route 211 and travel approximately 25.8 miles. Turn onto County Road 0574 on the south side of the highway. The campground is located 0.25 miles down the natural surface road.
