About

Baker Campground is located in the Stanislaus National Forest along the scenic Highway 108 corridor, positioned in a mixed conifer forest on the banks of the Stanislaus River. The campground sits at the junction of Highway 108 and Kennedy Meadow Road, approximately 27 miles from the Summit Ranger Station and 29 miles east of Pinecrest. With 44 sites including a few double sites and 2 walk-in sites, Baker provides a rustic camping experience with modern conveniences. The campground features a paved main road with dirt-surfaced parking pads. Each site is equipped with a table and fire ring, and multiple hydrants throughout the campground provide drinking water. Vault-style toilets serve the facility. The campground experiences heavy use during the operating season due to its proximity to Kennedy Meadow Trailhead and excellent river access for fishing and water activities. Baker Campground is situated at high elevation along the Sonora Pass route, which climbs to 9,628 feet. The campground typically operates from late spring through fall, with access dependent on Highway 108 conditions. Winter closures are standard due to heavy snowfall in the Sierra Nevada.
