About
Lake Three campground sits on the shore of its namesake lake in Ashland County within the Great Divide District of Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. The small campground offers seven primitive, nonelectric campsites and a boat launch providing access to the lake, which is home to musky, bass, panfish, and brook trout. Non-motorized watercraft are ideal for exploring the lake. The North Country National Scenic Trail, which stretches approximately 4,600 miles from New York to North Dakota, passes adjacent to the campground, offering hiking and backpacking opportunities. Springbrook, a Class 1 brook trout stream, is nearby. The surrounding forest provides additional trails for off-road vehicles, hiking, and mountain biking. Nearby attractions include Morgan Falls, St. Peter's Dome, and the Penokee Overlook, all within a short drive. Firewood from outside the area is not permitted to prevent the spread of invasive pests.
