About

Los Prietos Campground occupies a green, lush setting on the slopes of the Santa Ynez Mountains in Los Padres National Forest. Mature oak trees provide ample shade throughout the 38-site campground, and the sites are roomy with good separation for privacy. Each site includes a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Flush toilets and drinking water are available, though there are no utility hookups. The campground serves as a basecamp for diverse recreation. The Santa Ynez River is less than half a mile away at White Rock Day Use Area for water play. The Aliso National Recreation Trail offers a 2.5-mile loop starting near the campground, and the 18-mile Santa Cruz Trail provides access to an extensive network of backcountry trails. Cachuma Lake Recreation Area, about 10 miles northwest, offers boating, fishing, and kayaking with stocked trout. Of the 38 sites, 35 are reservable through Recreation.gov and 3 are first-come, first-served. Sites accommodate tents and RVs up to 30 feet. The campground is operated by a concessionaire, and firewood is available for purchase from the campground host.
