About

Point Reyes National Seashore provides a true backcountry camping experience on a scenic peninsula 50 miles north of San Francisco. The park offers four distinct hike-in/bike-in campgrounds and thirteen boat-in sites, but absolutely no car or RV camping. The four backcountry campgrounds each offer unique settings. Coast Camp sits in a grassy valley 200 meters from the beach with easy tide pool access, reached via a 2-mile hike. Glen Camp provides a quiet, secluded experience in a wooded valley, requiring a moderate 5-mile hike. Sky Camp perches on Mt. Wittenberg at 1,025 feet elevation with sweeping Pacific views, accessed by a 2-mile uphill trek. Wildcat Camp occupies an ocean bluff meadow near Alamere Falls, requiring a 6-mile hike from Bear Valley. All hike-in camps include picnic tables, food storage lockers, vault toilets, and drinking water. Tomales Bay boat-in camping is available on west-side National Park beaches north of Indian Beach. These primitive sites are tidally influenced sandy coves backed by steep cliffs, accessible only by boat. Marshall Beach and Tomales Beach have vault toilets, but other boat-in sites require portable toilets. Campers must bring their own water, raccoon-proof food storage, and firewood, and pack out all trash. No campground fires are ever allowed; gas stoves only.
