About
Westlake Day Use is a scenic day-use facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the western shore of Lewisville Lake, a nearly 30,000-acre reservoir just outside the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan area. The site offers four open-sided group pavilions that can be reserved for gatherings, picnics, and events. The shelters vary in capacity: Blackjack Oak seats 50-75 people, Green Ash accommodates 75-100, while Bur Oak and Cottonwood each seat 100-150 guests. Most pavilions feature electric hookups, large grills, and water access, with restrooms located within walking distance. Cottonwood sits along the shoreline, offering direct lake views. The lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, jet skiing, and fishing, with warm water temperatures and ample surface area. The area rests above an archaeological site where prehistoric remains dating back to approximately 12,000 B.C. have been discovered, making it one of the oldest human-inhabited sites in the Southwest.
