Open for reservations. The lake is typically ice-free from May through October. From late fall through early spring, the cabin may be inaccessible due to frozen lake conditions preventing floatplane landings. The cabin floor may flood during periods of extremely heavy rainfall.

About
Marten Lake Cabin offers a true wilderness experience in a remote valley of the Tongass National Forest, 25 miles southeast of Wrangell. The cabin sits at 178 feet elevation on the north shore of Marten Lake, surrounded by old-growth Sitka spruce, western hemlock, and cedar. Steep mountains rise from the shoreline, and a sand beach fronts the cabin at low and moderate lake levels. The 12x14 A-frame cabin accommodates up to four people with single and double bunks. Amenities include a wood-burning stove for heat, table with benches, outhouse, woodshed, and splitting maul. A wooden cooler box on the porch helps store food. A skiff with oars is available for exploring the lake, though guests must bring their own flotation devices. Fishing is excellent for cutthroat trout and Dolly Varden in Marten Lake and nearby Clay Lake, with steelhead available in lower Marten Creek. Brown bears, black bears, moose, and mountain goats inhabit the area. Hunters can pursue bear and mountain goat in designated seasons with proper permits. The cabin is extremely remote with no cell service, and guests should be prepared for potential weather delays.
Directions
The cabin is located at the north end of Marten Lake on the mainland above Blake Channel and Bradfield Canal. Access is by floatplane only, approximately 25 miles southeast of Wrangell. Visitors must arrange their own air transportation.
