Bald Mountain Campground
Closed for the season. The campground typically opens in June and operates through Labor Day, weather dependent. After the season ends, the campground remains accessible for self-supported camping with no water, trash service, or cleaning.

ESFRIW A wet weather system will support periods of showers and thunderstorms across Wyoming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. This weather system is funneling abundant tropical moisture into the state. Given this anomalously high moisture, many thunderstorms will feature heavy rainfall, possibly leading to localized flooding. Poor drainage areas, urban areas, and steep terrain will be the most susceptible locations for this isolated flooding. Many locations could see rainfall totals anywhere between 0.75" to 1.75" through Sunday afternoon, with a majority of this rain falling quickly in thunderstorms. Remember, if you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around don't down!

About
Bald Mountain Campground occupies a scenic location at 9,200 feet elevation along the Medicine Wheel Passage Scenic Byway (U.S. Highway 14A) in Wyoming's Bighorn National Forest. A forest of pine and aspen surrounds the 15 campsites, with small creeks winding through the area. The high elevation means temperatures can drop significantly after sunset. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, and trash collection during the season. Each site has a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. Sites are limited to 8 people and one 8x10 tent maximum due to space constraints. Two vehicles are permitted per site, with the second vehicle incurring a $10 fee. The Medicine Wheel National Historic Landmark, a significant Native American geoglyph, is located 4 miles from the campground. Jaws Trailhead nearby provides access to Bucking Mule Falls Trail and Porcupine Creek. After the official season closes, the campground remains open for self-supported camping as weather permits, though water, trash collection, and cleaning services are not available.
Directions
From Lovell, Wyoming, take U.S. Highway 14A east for 33 miles and turn right at the campground sign. This route has a 10% grade and is not recommended for RVs and motorhomes. From Dayton, Wyoming, take U.S. Highway 14/14A west 73 miles via Burgess Junction. This is the recommended route for RVs and motorhomes.
