About
Shannon Creek Campground is nestled along the western shore of Baker Lake in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest on the west side of the Cascades. The area showcases glacier-covered peaks, broad mountain meadows, and old-growth forests. On clear days, visitors can see Mt. Baker rising to 10,781 feet with its perpetually snow-capped summit. The campground includes approximately 19 tent/trailer campsites spread across the forested hillside leading down to the lakeshore. Sites are equipped with picnic tables and fire rings, with vault toilets and potable water available. A small gravel boat ramp provides lake access for campers, though it is not suitable for larger boats. During Sockeye fishing season, boat launch access is limited to Shannon Creek campers only. Baker Lake is a popular destination for boating, water skiing, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. The nearby Baker Lake and Baker River Trails offer family-friendly hikes through majestic old-growth Douglas fir and western red cedar trees. The Baker River Trail leads to North Cascades National Park, while higher elevation trails access the Mt. Baker National Recreation Area and Mt. Baker Wilderness.
