About

Goose Island Campground occupies a scenic stretch of the Colorado River corridor along Highway 128, just 1.4 miles from its junction with Highway 191 near Moab. The 20 individual campsites spread beneath cottonwood trees that provide shade against the desert sun, with views across the river to the massive red rock cliffs of Arches National Park. Sites accommodate tents, RVs, and trailers on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground operates year-round but sees heavy use from March through October, typically filling by mid-morning during peak season. Amenities include vault toilets, fire grates, and picnic tables at each site, though campers must bring their own water as none is available. Two group sites (capacity 25 and 40 people) can be reserved through Recreation.gov. From the campground, a paved bicycle trail connects to Arches National Park, the Bar M Mountain Bike Trailhead, and downtown Moab. The Colorado River offers fishing opportunities, though swimmers should exercise extreme caution due to dangerous undercurrents. Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park are within 30 minutes.
