About

Mt. Heyburn Campground is a 19-site first-come, first-served campground located on the east side of Redfish Lake in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. The sites are nestled within a lodgepole pine forest, providing shade and a classic mountain camping experience. The campground operates seasonally from late May through mid-September. Redfish Lake offers excellent recreational opportunities including swimming, sailing, waterskiing, canoeing, motorized boating, and fishing for wild cutthroat trout. A boat ramp is available at Sandy Beach on the eastern shore. The Fishhook Nature Trail provides a short interpretive hike, while longer trails lead west into the Sawtooth Wilderness and its alpine lakes. The Idaho Centennial Trail passes near the area. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, potable water from faucets, and picnic tables. Three small playgrounds are available for children. Additional services such as showers, a dump station, propane, and boat rentals are available at Redfish Lake Lodge. A visitor center offers area information and interpretive programs.
