Sanford Yake Campground is perched on a spectacular caprock bluff overlooking Lake Meredith in the Texas Panhandle. The campground offers both developed RV sites and primitive camping options, making it suitable for various camping styles. Ten RV sites feature electric hookups with 50, 30, and 20 amp service along with water hookups, available by reservation through the concessionaire. The remaining 41 sites are free and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground provides modern amenities including restrooms with flush toilets, hot showers, and potable water. Each site includes a picnic table, shade shelter, and grill. Pull-through parking is available for larger rigs. While the campground offers stunning views of the lake from the mesa top, visitors should note that access to the shoreline is steep and difficult. The campground is operated by Wright-On Bait Tackle & Watercraft Rentals under concession with the National Park Service. Lake Meredith National Recreation Area allows camping for up to 14 consecutive days within a 30-day period, with a maximum of 60 days per year. The recreation area charges no entrance fee. Pets are welcome but must be kept on leash at all times. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., with no generator use during this time.

Directions

From Amarillo, take Loop 335 North, exit onto Highway 136 North toward Fritch. From the east side of Fritch, exit Highway 136 on Eagle Boulevard. Turn north on Fritch Fortress Road and follow about 3 miles to High Plains Road, turn right. High Plains Road intersects Sanford Yake Road, keep left and follow Sanford Yake Road to the campground.
