* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of North Mississippi, including the following areas, Alcorn, Benton MS, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee MS, Marshall, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, Union and Yalobusha and West Tennessee, including the following areas, Benton TN, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Madison and McNairy. * WHEN...Through Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - The eventual remnants of Hurricane Isaias will trek north impacting portions of the Mid-South. Based on the latest guidance, the heaviest rainfall will likely fall across portions of northeast Mississippi into some areas of West Tennessee. HLSMEG This product covers Mid-South **THE REMNANTS OF ISAIAS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTH OVERNIGHT** NEW INFORMATION --------------- * CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - All watches and warnings have been canceled * CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - None * STORM INFORMATION: - About 320 miles southeast of Memphis TN or about 230 miles southeast of Tupelo MS - 31.5N 86.5W - Storm Intensity 65 mph - Movement North or 355 degrees at 20 mph SITUATION OVERVIEW ------------------ Hurricane Isaias made landfall around 8:30 PM CDT this evening near Destin, FL and quickly became post-tropical. Its remnants will move inland through Saturday, bringing gusty winds and heavy rainfall across portions of the Mid-South. A wind advisory will replace the Tropical Storm Warning and a flooding threat continues. POTENTIAL IMPACTS ----------------- * WIND: Protect against hazardous wind having possible limited impacts across northeast Mississippi. Potential impacts in this area include: - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about. - Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over. - A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways. - Scattered power and communications outages. Elsewhere across Mid-South, little to no impact is anticipated. * FLOODING RAIN: Protect against dangerous rainfall flooding having possible significant impacts across northeast Mississippi. Potential impacts include: - Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt several evacuations and rescues. - Rivers and tributaries may quickly become swollen with swifter currents and overspill their banks in a few places, especially in usually vulnerable spots. Small streams, creeks, canals, arroyos, and ditches overflow. - Flood waters can enter some structures or weaken foundations. Several places may experience expanded areas of rapid inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage areas. HLSMEG This product covers Mid-South **ISAIAS WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE NORTH OVERNIGHT** NEW INFORMATION --------------- * CHANGES TO WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - None * CURRENT WATCHES AND WARNINGS: - A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee MS, and Monroe * STORM INFORMATION: - About 270 miles south-southeast of Tupelo MS - 30.8N 86.5W - Storm Intensity 90 mph - Movement North or 5 degrees at 20 mph SITUATION OVERVIEW ------------------ Hurricane Isaias made landfall around 8:30 PM CDT this evening near Destin, FL. Isaias is expected to continue to move inland through Saturday, bringing gusty winds and heavy rainfall across the Mid-South. Four counties in the Mid-South remain in a Tropical Storm Warning through Saturday afternoon with wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph. These areas could see up to 3" of rainfall. The Visitor Center at Natchez Trace Parkway Milepost 266 will be closed from 12/24-12/25 and will reopen on 12/26. The bathrooms will remain open.
