In western North Carolina, Avery, Buncombe, Burke Mountains, Caldwell Mountains, Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Graham, Greater Burke, Greater Caldwell, Greater Rutherford, Haywood, Henderson, Macon, Madison, McDowell Mountains, Mitchell, Northern Jackson, Polk Mountains, Rutherford Mountains, Southern Jackson, Swain, Transylvania and Yancey. * WHEN...Through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, including urban areas along the I-77 and I-40 corridors. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Waves of heavy rain showers and scattered thunderstorms are forecast to move along a slow-moving cold front tonight into Thursday. Visitor Center and Bookstore hours are Thurs - Sun 10-4. It is .5 mile walk to the historic area from the Hikers Lot. Please keep this in mind. If you have access needs, please call the number posted in the parking lot.
First Amendment Area
The primary designated First Amendment area is the grassy area directly Infront of the headquarters building at 81 Carl Sandburg Lane. This area is available for small groups of 25 or less on a “first come, first served” basis.
