...HIGH SURF WARNING FOR NORTH AND EAST FACING SHORES OF NIIHAU KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI MAUI AND BIG ISLAND THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR WEST FACING SHORES OF MOLOKAI MAUI AND BIG ISLAND AND FOR NORTH FACING SHORES OF LANAI THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... .A long period north-northeast (010-030 degrees) has peaked overnight and will hold through the morning hours, producing much larger than normal surf across some coastlines, especially in windward areas. The swell will gradually decline late this afternoon through Friday. * WHAT...Along north facing shores, surf peaking at 20 to 30 feet this morning before slowly declining late this afternoon. Along east facing shores, surf peaking at 14 to 18 feet this morning before slowly declining late this afternoon. * WHERE...North and east facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui, and Big Island. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening. * IMPACTS...High. Expect very strong breaking waves and powerful currents. Waves breaking in channel entrances may make navigating the channels dangerous.

3:21 AM — 4:30 PM

A north-northeast swell from 010 to 030 degrees has peaked and will hold through this morning, then begin a slow decline late this afternoon. The large swell will produce hazardous conditions with large breaking waves at harbor entrances and heavy surges in north facing harbors, mainly in Hilo and Kahului. Mariners using these harbors should exercise caution when entering or leaving port.
