Okefenokee Wilderness

Special Weather Statement issued April 13 at 5:08AM EDT by NWS Jacksonville FL

5:08 AM — 9:00 AM

Areas of dense fog with visibilities of 1/4 mile or less have developed early this morning from the I-10 corridor northward across inland Southeast Georgia. These conditions will continue until just after sunrise, then improving visibilities are expected between 8am and 9am this morning. Fog could also be increasingly dense near areas of smoke produced by wildfires. Use caution while driving this morning, leaving plenty of room between you and the vehicle in front of you.

Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge is experiencing increasingly dry weather conditions and low water levels which are impacting access to several water trails and paddle-in camping platforms.
