Santiam Horse Camp

United States

Overview

Brochure InfoIn 2006 the Oregon Department of Forestry partnered with the Silver Falls Chapter of Oregon Equestrian Trails and other local volunteers to design and construct this campground and the trail system surrounding it. Volunteers donated nearly 2000 hours of service to assist ODF in creating this recreation opportunity. Since then, the Santiam Horse Camp and Day-use Area has served many recreationalists from near and far. In 2020, the Labor Day Fires severely impacted the campground and its surrounding forestland. After a yearlong closure, the camp reported in the early summer of 2022. Today, the camp is located in a partially burned forest setting and is the starting point for a system of non-motorized trails for horseback riders, bikers and hikers. Trail users travel through miles of diverse forest with clear streams and unique geological formations.Brochure Info - Facilities and RestrictionsThe campground offers 10 corral campsites, two tent sites, two vault toilets, a hand pump for water, trash service, and metal fire rings. Horse campers will find ample room for trailer parking as well as corrals in each site.Key InfoPark will start accepting reservation June 27th for dates July 1 and beyond. Fire Restrictions Information - Throughout the year, as fire danger changes, the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) changes public use restrictions which impact the public's ability to have fires and other fire-related activities. If you will be staying at Santiam Horse Camp and are unaware of current fire restrictions, please call the Santiam State Forest office at (503) 859-2151 or visit the ODF Public Use Restrictions website, https://gisapps.odf.oregon.gov/firerestrictions/PFR.html, for up-to-date information about fire restrictions. Please protect the Pacific Northwest from invasive species by obtaining or purchasing your firewood at or near your camping destination.
