Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge, over three major waterfalls, between cliffs as high as 600 feet in some places. The river's cliffs are surrounded by lush forests. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks and tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, hot air ballooning, and a swimming pool. The fully-equipped Maplewood Lodge is an ideal vacation rental, particularly for snowmobilers, as it is connects to the NYS snowmobile trail system.Brochure Info - Nearby AttractionsNearby are four state parks: Silver Lake State Park, Hamlin Beach State Park, Darien Lakes State Park, and Stony Brook State Park. The historic, completely restored Glen Iris Inn offers overnight accommodations and is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Basics Snack Bar offers light meals and gifts.Key InfoGeneral Information: The South Pool is closed. The Harvey Pool is available from late June to Labor Day and is a 20 min. drive through the park from the South-end. Cell service is spotty in the park; the service in the South-end is very limited. There is a fee charged on the 2nd vehicle for the first night of your camping stay. Only US Coast Guard approved flotation devices are allowed. Cabin Area C renters and all Camping customers must arrive prior to 9PM during July and August, and prior to 7PM on weekdays during spring and fall. Cabin Areas and Camping areas allow max. of 2 vehicles; additional cars will be charged a fee. No roller-blades, skates or skateboards, weapons, kegs, or beer balls allowed. CABINS: Shower facilities are available for renters of Cabin Area E by driving to Cabin Area D. Smoking is NOT permitted in any cabin. ALL cabins - linens/bedding and cookware/utensils are NOT provided. Cabin Area A, B, D, and E renters must arrive prior to 5:30PM or call the park office to make arrangements. There is NO interior water in Cabin Area C. Cabin Areas A and B: Water available during the main season each year, but shut off after mid-October. Area E Cabins and Cabins D-3 and D-8 are reservable for a 2-night min. stay at all times. They do not have heat. Cabin Areas A, B, D, and E are in the South-end. ATTENTION PET OWNERS: Current proof of rabies inoculation is required at check-in (metal tags will not be accepted). At any time during your stay, pet owners may be required to provide proof of rabies inoculation upon request. Pets must be on a leash no longer than 6ft and under control at all times. Do not leave pets unattended and always clean up after them. Pet owners/permit holders are liable for any damage, personal injury, or nuisance caused by the pet. Where pets are permitted, there is a maximum limit of 2 pets per site. Pets are ONLY allowed in Cabin Area C (2 pets per cabin). Pets are ONLY allowed in the 100, 200, 700, and 800 Loop (2 pets per site). Pets are NOT allowed in Cabin Areas A, B, D, and E. Pets are NOT allowed in Loops 300, 400, 500, and 600. It's preferred that sites within designated pet loops are chosen when using Service animals. They will be allowed elsewhere when these sites are not available or practical. SWIMMING: Each year the campground makes every effort to provide safe swimming opportunities by testing the water and by keeping the swimming areas staffed with lifeguards. Please be aware that if the safety of our swimmers is compromised due to lack of lifeguard coverage or water quality issues, swimming will be prohibited. Swimming cannot be a guaranteed activity; therefore, we cannot offer refunds on camping stays. We apologize for this inconvenience as it may occur with little advance notice. PRE-REGISTRATION: Have an existing reservation? Don't forget to PRE-REGISTER!! 7 days prior to arrival you can sign into Reserve America and pre-register. IT SAVES TIME. LENGTH OF STAY: A camping party and their equipment may occupy a site for a maximum of 14 continuous nights. After which, the camping party and equipment must leave the site and facility for 48 hours before registering again for another site. Please Note: To ensure fairness for all NY customers, any reservation with departure dates outside the 9-month Maximum Window cannot be changed or cancelled until 18 days after the reservation was made. Important Information for Daily EntranceDirectionTent/trailer camping & C-Cabins must check in at Camp Contact on the North end. It is recommended to enter through the Mt. Morris or Perry Gate. A, B, D, & E Cabins must check in at the Visitor Center in the South end. It is recommended to enter through the Castile Gate. From Buffalo Take I-90 to 400 South Exit off 400 in East Aurora to 20A East (left turn) Mt. Morris Entrance Follow 20A thru Warsaw & Perry Center to flashing light in Pine Tavern Road straight across is Perry Road – take this to end. At stop sign turn right onto Route 36 South. Watch for Mt Morris Entrance sign to Letchworth State Park on the right. Perry Entrance Follow 20A East to Route 246, turn right at light. Go to the end of 246 and turn left onto main street in Perry Almost immediate right onto St Helena Street End of St Helena St, proceed straight onto Schenck Road. Follow straight to Perry Gate. Camping will be straight across. Castile Entrance Turn right into Route 19S in Warsaw. Stay on 19S until you see signs for Letchworth State park. Turn Left onto 19A South. Turn left onto Denton Corners Road to bring you to Castile gate. From Rochester/Albany Take 390 south to Exit #7 > Mt. Morris (I-90 to 390 if coming from Albany) From the off ramp turn left and go approximately 1 mile to the village of Mt. Morris At the stop light in village, turn right onto Route 36 (also Main Street) Follow Route 36 through the village. Just as you start to head out of town, you will cross over the Genesee River. After crossing the bridge, take your first left turn. This is the Mt. Morris Gate Park Entrance. For other entrances, reference above.
