Brochure InfoThe first new campground in the NH State Park System in over 40 years has opened at Gilson Pond Campground! This new family camping area opened July 9, 2010 at Monadnock State Park and is located just down the road from the park headquarters area at 585 Dublin Road, Jaffrey, NH 03452. The new campground has 35 campsites that can accommodate tents and pop-ups, plus 5 remote hike-to sites. A new bathhouse with showers and playground complete this facility. There are several trails leaving the area that lead to the summit of Mount Monadnock or shorter hikes around the state park. Monadnock Base Headquarters has sites open during the off season for walk-in camping from November to May.Key Info Pet Policy Pets are not permitted at this park. Anyone entering with a pet will be asked to leave. For more information on the NH State Parks Pet Policy, or to see where pets are allowed, please visit: www.nhstateparks.org/planning/pet-friendly-state-parks Fee Information: The nightly base site fee pays for 2 adults only and up to 4 dependent children under 18. You must be 18 to register for a campsite. Extra adults are $10 per night. Additional children are $5 per night NH Senior Citizens are given a $5 per night discount to all campgrounds with the exception of Cannon Mountain RV, Ellacoya, and Hampton Beach. NH Seniors must bring their NH photo ID for verification. NH State Employees are given a 50% discount on campsites with the exception of yurts and cabins. NH State Employees must bring their State ID or current paystub for discount to be applied. There is a maximum of 2 vehicles per site, extra vehicles are to be parked in the shower-building parking lot. Camping equipment must be set up on designated dirt portion of campsites. Maximum per site: one trailer (tent or travel) and one tent; OR one motor home and one tent; OR two large tents. Additional Information: Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am. Generators may not be used during quiet hours and cannot be run continuously through the day. Check-out time is 11am. After check-out campers may park and spend the remainder of the day in the day-use area. No electrical/water hook-ups or dump stations at this campground except sites A5.A6.A8, and A9 which has electric only hookup.. Park office phone number - 603-532-2416 Emergency Police/Fire/Ambulance....911 Booking Rules: The maximum reservation window is 11 months in advance and sites become available at 8am (9am on weekends) exactly 11 months from the anticipated arrival day. Cancellation Policy: If you are cancelling 7 days or less from your arrival date you will be charged a $15 cancellation fee in addition to the $6.50 non-refundable reservation transaction fee charged at booking. If you do not arrive at the facility for your stay, and do not call the park to cancel before noon on the day of your reservation, no refund will be issued. If there are any concerns about your reservation, please call the ReserveAmerica Call Center at 1-877-647-2757 Any refund requests occuring after the reservation arrival date must be submitted in writing or emailed to State Parks Headquarters within 14 days of departure. However, a limited number of walk-in spaces are available and visitors who do not make a reservation will be admitted on a first come/first-serve basis. Reservations can be made up to 30 days prior to arrival and no later than 5pm on the day of your visit. Monadnock is not an easy hike. All routes to the top include very steep and rocky sections. The steep and rugged hike is 6 miles (6 hours round trip) and affords great views from the summit. There is no access to the White Dot trail from this location. Recreationists should possess the necessary knowledge, skill, and equipment to ensure their own safety. Users assume all risk while recreating in State Park lands. NH State Parks recommends registering for a Hike Safe Card at hikesafe.com Additional Information: Hikers interested in finding out what the conditions are prior to heading out can call the park directly at (603) 532-8862. Pets are not permitted in the park. Please note that this law includes all trails and areas on Mount Monadnock that are within Monadnock State Park boundaries. Discount for New Hampshire Seniors:Indicate that you are a senior on your order details page and you will not be charged the day-use/parking fee. However, there is a $1 transaction fee for using the online reservation system.
