Brochure InfoSummary Indian Cave is a pristine area, devoted to camping, hiking and backpacking, picnicking, nature and wilderness activities. Located 10 miles south of Brownville and 5 miles east on S64E, Indian Cave boasts a variety of hardwood trees, shrubs and other flora. There are 22 miles of hiking trails in the park. Attractions Autumn is particularly spectacular here. Horseback trail rides are also available in season. History buffs will enjoy the restored schoolhouse and general store from the old river town of St. Deroin, where old time crafts are demonstrated on weekends from May through October.. A group picnic shelter may be reserved. A ramp offers river access for boaters or you can put in at nearby Brownville SRA. Campground Notes Indian Cave State Park is located on the banks of the Missouri River. Perhaps the biggest attractions are the majestic hardwood forest and the hills that overlook the wide and winding river. The RV campground can handle 134 units with 30-amp. electrical hookups (22 of which also have 50-amp.). Modern camping is open May 1 - October 31, even longer, if weather permits. Primitive camping is open year-round. The tent camping area extends among the scenic hills. Tent campers have their own showers, as well as a water hydrant and electrical hookups. Grills and ground-level fire rings are provided. There are Adirondack shelters along the trails for back-to-nature enthusiasts. For horse lovers, Indian Cave has a special camping area for those who bring their mounts to the park.Key InfoATTENTION - IMPORTANT INFORMATION, READ CAREFULLY Updated COVID 19 Policies: We ask that you protect yourselves and the staff by maintaining appropriate social distancing guidelines. Necessary permits, such as fishing licenses and parks entry passes, should be purchased in advance online here: https://ngpc-home.ne.gov/ The health and safety of our customers and employees is our top priority. Based on health concerns regarding COVID-19, we are working to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus disease to our guests, employees, and the greater community by implementing the following policies. If boating, do not congregate at boat ramps, boat docks, and beach areas. Avoid high –touch areas. Clean public use surfaces, such as boat dock handrails and fish cleaning stations, picnic tables, with disinfecting wipe prior to use. Camping reservations may be made a minimum of three days in advance of arrival and a maximum of 180 days in advance of arrival. CHECK IN AND OUT SCHEDULE- If you check out early, the unused portion of your payment will be forfeited. Horses There are about 16 miles of trails and an established horse camp for private horses. You may need to carry in drinking water for both you and the horses. Office Details Kiosk Entrance Booth Open Sunday - Thursday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. No Swimming Non Licensed motorized vehicles are not allowed in the areas. Only one camping unit is allowed per campsite. An extra tent may be used for dependant children only. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Generators may not be operated during these hours. Pets are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash that is no longer than 6 feet. Campers staying over must register by 2 p.m. Check in time is 4 p.m. and check out time is 2 p.m. Campers must vacate their campsite no later than 2:00 p.m. on the date the camping reservation or registration expires. All persons entering the campground must be registered. Upon arival, campers MUST have their camping equipment and be prepared to set up. When a reservation is made one year to the date in advance, the arrival date must remain the same within that reservation. No cancellation of that arrival date is allowed. A Nebraska State Park Permit is required to enter this park area. A Nebraska Licensed Vehicle Park Entry Permit is $30 for an Annual Permit, $15 for a Duplicate Annual Permit (used for that second vehicle in your family) or a Daily Permit which is $6 per day you are staying. A Non-Nebraska Licensed Vehicle Park Entry Permit is $60, $30 for a Duplicate Annual Permit or a Daily Permit which is $12 per day. You may purchase your Park Permit prior to your stay by shopping online at OutdoorNebraska.org.All vehicles entering a Nebraska Park Area are required to have a valid park entry permit.Important Information for Daily EntranceDirectionFrom Lincoln: East on Hwy 2 to Nebraska City, South on Hwy 75 to Auburn, East on Hwy 136 (9 miles), South on Hwy 67 (9 miles), East on 64E (5 miles). From Omaha: South on Hwy 75, East on Hwy 136 (9 miles), South on Hwy 67 (9 miles), East on Hwy 64E (5 miles). Or you can also get here from Omaha by taking Interstate I-29 South, take exit #110 to Brownville, NE. (West on Hwy 136), South on Hwy 67 (9 miles), East on Hwy 64E (5 miles). If you are traveling north out of Kansas City you would take I-29 North, take exit #110 and repeat the above sequence.Booking Window Product InfoFee Cancellation DescFee Information Payment in full will be charged to your credit card upon completion of the reservation. A $8.50 non-refundable on-line reservation fee will be charged for each reservation. Payment Methods Accepted On-line: Cancellation Policy Reservations may be cancelled online or submitted by email to the Nebraska reservation call center at ngpc.reservations@nebraska.gov or directly submitted to the park where the reservation(s) are held, by mail, e-mail, or fax. A non-refundable fee of $5.00 will be charged for any reservation cancellation.
