Brochure InfoChicopee State Park, formerly the Cooley Brook Reservoir and Watershed has been developed as a high use active recreation area. The total acreage is 575 acres including a 25-acre pond. Day-use parking may reach capacity and be temporarily closed until sufficient parking is available. Children under 16 must wear a helmet while bike riding on DCR property. Fishing Restrictions: Ice Fishing in not allowed as the ice conditions and water levels often fluctuate.Brochure Info - Facilities and RestrictionsThe pavilion picnic area may be reserved in advance for $65. There is a non-refundable $4.50 transaction charge for the reservation service. The pavilion rental includes use of a group sized (3 x 3 cooking area) charcoal-ready grill and picnic tables. Restrooms and potable water are near the pavilion, for your convenience. An accessible portable toilet is also provided.Key InfoOnce you have made your reservation, please call the park to discuss your plans for the day. The office telephone number is (413) 594-9416. Especially on weekends and holidays, this park may reach maximum day-use parking capacity and be temporarily closed until sufficient parking is available. Once the parking lot is full, your guests will not be able to enter. Please plan accordingly by having all guests arrive early in the day. Alcohol is prohibited in all Massachusetts State Parks and Campgrounds. Please be advised, the rental of this facility is generally for a self-catered picnic or simple gathering. Should you be interested in having a caterer, amplified music, a bounce house, fundraising event, etc. you will need to secure permission via a special event permit. There is a $45 non-refundable application fee, a Certificate of Liability Insurance will be required and you will be need to submit a Covid-19 Compliance Plan stating how you will meet the Governor’s guidelines. There is electric service available at the site. Check in time is 9:00 AM Check out Time is 7:00 PM, to Labor Day and 4:00 PM, Labor Day to Columbus Day. Without prior notification to the park directly, reservations not checked in by 12:00 PM will be considered "no show" and all fees are forfeited. Decorations Signs and banners and party decorations may be used and secured only by tape (no duct tape). The use of glue, nails, tacks or other fasteners that may damage surfaces are prohibited. Trash All sites must be restored to the original condition at the end of use. Clean-up consists of removal of all food and beverages, picking up and placing all trash and debris in containers and removal of all decorations and equipment VehiclesThe pavilion rental fee does not include vehicle entry fees. Each vehicle will be required to purchase and display a valid parking pass. Vehicles are prohibited beyond the parking lot. Permits do not include parking spaces and parking at the location by the general public is allowed.
