Brochure InfoGreat Brook Farm State Park stands as a jewel in northern Massachusetts! Agriculture has been part of Great Brook's history for centuries. Holsteins have been kept here for over 60 years and current farmer Mark Duffy continues the tradition with his black & white ladies. Native Americans had previously used the area for sacred sites. Seventeenth century cellar holes comprise "the city" where early English colonial settlers worked one of numerous mill sites. The Hart Barn, which is available to reserve, is a converted dairy barn that provides a sheltered space with 10 wooden picnic tables inside. There is a maximum of 50 people. There is electricity and lights. Alcohol is strictly prohibited. Alcohol is prohibited in all DCR Facilities. Please be advised, the rental of this facility is generally for a self-catered picnic or simple gathering. Should you be interested in having a caterer, amplified music, a bounce house, fundraising event, etc. you will need to secure permission via a special event permit. There is a $45 non-refundable application fee, a Certificate of Liability Insurance will be required and you will be need to submit a Covid-19 Compliance Plan stating how you will meet the Governor’s guidelines. Children must be attended at all times. Children 16 and under must wear bicycle helmets while riding bicycles. Pets must be attended and leashed at all times, are prohibited from swimming beaches and state buildings, including restrooms. Pick up after your pet and deposit waste in trash. Please clean up the area after use. Use available trash and recycling receptacles. Bring paper goods for your outing or plan to transport and wash dishes at home. Decorations may be hung with thumb tacks or tape. No duct tape, nails or staples. Remove all balloons and decorations. Pavilion reservations are rain or shine events. There are no refunds, unless cancelled with ReserveAmerica two days prior to reserved date. Important Information for Daily EntranceDirectionGreat Brook Farm State Park is located in north-eastern Massachusetts. The Pavilion is located at 1018 Lowell Street, Carlisle, MA. There is a dirt parking lot with 2 composting toilets and a pay and display machine to obtain parking passes. Directions to the Hart Barn Picnic Pavilion The Hart Barn located at 1018 Lowell Street in Carlisle, Massachusetts is part of Great Brook Farm State Park. It is a rustic dairy barn which has been converted into public space as an event or group space. The indoor space has electricity and 10 picnic tables. There is a large dirt parking lot for the Hart Barn which is right outside and is separated from the main parking lot for park patrons. Follow the directions below to locate the Hart Barn or type in the address above on your smart phone or device. From Rt. 128: Take Exit 31B. Follow Route 225 West for 8 miles to the Carlisle Center rotary, then turn right on Lowell Street, (following the sign to Chelmsford). Fern's Country Market is on the corner. The Hart Barn entrance is 2.0 miles ahead on the right. From the Route 2: Follow to Rt. 495 North and use the directions below. From 495 South: Take 495 South to Exit 34. Follow Route 110 West for .6 miles to Chelmsford Center, continue through light onto Route 4 South for 1 mile, then take the right fork onto Concord Road towards Carlisle. The Hart Barn Entrance is 2.0 miles ahead on the left. From 495 North: Take Rt. 495 North to Exit 32 (Westford & to Route 225). At the bottom of the ramp go right. At the lights go straight through. At the T intersection, go left (onto Rt. 225). Follow Rt. 225 till you reach the center of Carlisle (there's a small rotary with monument in the middle). Go 3/4 of the way around the rotary onto Lowell Street towards Chelmsford. Fern's Country Market is on the corner.
