Brochure InfoAlapocas Run is lush getaway situated in the heart of Wilmington. Trails through softly rolling hills of fields and forest are connected to the Northern Delaware Greenway and pass a rock-climbing area, one of the parks most serene spots. Nestled within the heart of Wilmington, Alapocas Run State Park is located just off I-95 at RT 202 Concord Pike near the intersection of Foulk and Weldin Roads in north Wilmington. Alapocas Run features one pavilion and a picnic area with tables and grills, located near the Can-Do-Playground - a barrier free play area for children of all abilities. Nearby athletic fields are available by permit. An extensive trail system affords the opportunity for hiking and biking through fields and forests. You can also visit the Blue Ball Barn, the centerpiece of Alapocas Run, a once abandoned dairy barn built by Alfred I. Please bring exact change for self-payment or credit card. Park Hours: 8:00 AM to sunset. Park Office: 302-577-1164, Office located at Blue Ball Barn. Amusement devices (moon bounces, etc.) & Tents/Canopies: Additional space may be available for amusement devices (moon bounces etc.) or canopies for an additional cost. Visitors must contact the park office at least one week prior to the event for information on availability, cost, and to secure a space. Additional Use: Use of the athletic fields are by permit. Call the park office at 302- 577-1164 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to obtain permits. Delaware now requires a fishing license to cover both salt water and fresh water fishing. This includes recreational clamming and crabbing. The license may be purchased at agents authorized by the Division of Fish & Wildlife. Balance of payments will be refunded. A cancellation fee of a one-day camping fee is charged if cancellation is within 30 days of arrival date; the balance of payment received will be refunded. A cabin reservation carries a $35 cancellation fee; the balance of payment received will be refunded. A reservation at the Cottages at Indian River Marina carries a cancellation fee of one-half of the total rental fee. Early departures forfeit all balances. No refunds will be given unless Delaware State Parks or the reservation call center is notified of the cancellation. The park reserves the right to hold a campsite, cabin or yurt for no more than 24 hours after a customer's expected arrival date; after that time, the reservation will be cancelled. The park must receive notice of the late arrival to hold the reservation after the designated arrival time.
