Misery Overlook is the highest point in the vicinity with an elevation of 441 feet, giving a fine view of Pachaug Forest and Voluntown. The overlook is accessible by trail and or car (600 feet from a parking area.) The Rhododendron Sanctuary offers a short scenic walk through an unusual ecological type and is one of very few such areas in New England. The Rhododendron usually blossom around July 4th.Brochure Info - RecreationBeachdale Pond is stocked with trout and has natural bass, pickerel and bullhead. The fishing area has a fishing platform off of Route 49 with wheelchair access.Key InfoPachaug State Forest and the Mount Misery Campground are alcohol free facilities.
