Day Pond Picnic Shelter

United States

Overview

Brochure InfoThe pond, which is the central feature of Day Pond Picnic Shelter, was originally constructed by a pioneering family named Day. The water from the pond turned a large overshot waterwheel that powered the "up-and-down saw" of the family sawmill. Park visitors today will find only stone foundations as reminders of those colonial times. Day Pond is an attractive area for fishermen, since the pond is stocked with trout, and many visitors also enjoy swimming, hiking, and picnicking in this beautiful park.Brochure Info - OrientationDay Pond Picnic Shelter is located near Haddam.Brochure Info - RecreationActivities include hiking, pond fishing, picnicking, and swimming.Brochure Info - Facilities and RestrictionsPark facilities include restrooms and picnic shelters.Brochure Info - Nearby AttractionsState parks in the area include Devil's Hopyard State Park, Gay City State Park, and Haddam Meadows State Park.Key InfoPicnic Shelter Cancellation Policy: Refund amounts will be determined as follows: • Cancellations made 30 days or more prior to the picnic shelter reservation: full refund less the $9.00 non-refundable reservation fee and $9.00 cancellation fee • Cancellations made 6 - 29 days prior to the picnic shelter reservation: refund of $145.00 less $9.00 cancellation fee • Cancellations made within 5 days of the picnic shelter reservation: Not eligible for a refund.
