Booking Window: Reservations can be made for today and can be made up to 1 year in advance. Altitude: Altitudes at the Park range from approximately 6175 to 6620. Park Fees: All vehicles entering the Park must have a valid Colorado State Parks pass. Vehicles that do not already have a valid annual or other Colorado State Parks pass, will be required to purchase a daily Colorado State Parks pass at the Park entrance. Pets: Pets are allowed on most of the Park trails and in the outdoor event facilities. In areas where they are allowed, pets must be on a leash no more than 6-feet long at all times. Pets are not allowed in the East Canyon Preservation Area. Weather: Weather conditions can change rapidly. Be prepared and bring appropriate attire. Wildlife: Because the park sits between prairie and montane communities, a mixture of wildlife species representative of both ecotypes occurs at Castlewood. Mule deer, coyote, cottontail rabbit, porcupine, ground squirrel and red fox are commonly seen. Black bear, bobcat, mountain lion, pronghorn and elk occasionally migrate through the area. Rattlesnakes and other reptile and amphibian species exist at the Park and are important to the ecosystems. Over 100 bird species nest and raise their young at Castlewood Canyon State Park. All wildlife should be viewed from a safe distance and not disturbed. No Camping: Castlewood Canyon State Park is a year-round, day-use park. There are no camping facilities at Castlewood Canyon State Park. Check In / Check Out: On the day of your group picnic or event, please use the main entrance at 2989 S. Highway 83. Inform the visitor center attendant as you arrive that you have a reservation. A ranger or other Park staff will meet you at the reserved site. He/she will inspect the picnic site with the group event organizer, review park rules and regulations, provide trash bags, and give directions on what to do at the completion of the event for a final inspection to be performed. Other Important Event Facility Rules: Entrance into the Park is not guaranteed when the Park has reached capacity. This is not a common occurrence, but more likely to occur on a holiday. Amplified music is not allowed. No DJ's or live bands please. Decorations can not be secured to any structure, fence or tree by nails, staples or tape. No tents, canopies, dance floors, or tables may be set up without approval of the Park Manager. No signs of any kind can be posted or placed anywhere in the Park. Throwing of birdseed, rice or confetti in the Park is not permitted. White rose petals are an acceptable alternative. Use of public restrooms cannot be restricted for private events. Alcohol consumption is permitted. Please drink responsibly. Groups are responsible for all clean-up of reserved areas. The Park is not responsible for items left in the Park. No exceptions to the refund policy will be given for bugs, bad weather, campfire bans, water conditions (including water levels, boat ramp or swim beach closures, and algae)! Any reservations made with one or more days outside of the 6-month reservation window will be frozen to changes for 14 days from the date the reservation was made. Important Information for Daily EntranceDirectionThere are two entrances to Castlewood Canyon State Park. Main Entrance: To reach the main entrance, take I-25 to Castle Rock and exit onto Founders Parkway (Exit 184), eastbound. Take Founders Parkway to Highway 86. Go east on Highway 86 approximately four miles to Franktown. At the traffic light in Franktown, turn right (south) on Highway 83 (S Parker Rd.). Go five miles south and the Park's main entrance is on the right. West Entrance: From State Highway 86, approximately half a mile west of Highway 83 in Franktown, turn south on Castlewood Canyon Road (County Road 51). The Park entrance is straight ahead.Booking Window Product InfoFee Cancellation DescPlease read our Fees and Cancellation Policies Park Fees: Facility reservation fees do not include the cost of Park entrance. All vehicles entering the Park must have a valid Colorado State Parks pass. Vehicles that do not already have a valid annual or other Colorado State Parks pass, will be required to purchase a daily Colorado State Parks pass at the Park entrance. Arrangements can be made upon request for an event host to pay entrance fees for their guests. Cancellation Policy: Facility reservations are subject to a cancellation fee. Cancellation fees are equal to 25% of the base fee if the cancellation is made more than two weeks prior to the reserved date. If a cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to the event, the cancellation fee is 100% of the total event fee. There is no refund available if cancellation is made less than two weeks prior to the event.
