About
Rim Camp serves as the primary camping area within McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, home to Theodore Roosevelt's proclaimed "eighth wonder of the world." The campground's 62 sites are spread across a forested loop, with each site equipped with a fire ring, grill, and picnic table. Facilities include flush restrooms, token-operated hot showers, potable water, a dump station, and a camp store operated by the park concessionaire. The campground sits in close proximity to the park's centerpiece, the 129-foot Burney Falls, which flows year-round at approximately 100 million gallons daily. Lake Britton offers opportunities for swimming, fishing, and non-motorized boating. Campers have access to five miles of hiking trails through mixed conifer forest, including a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail. Seven ADA-accessible sites are available, and two sites (#1 and #3) offer electric hookups for RVs. The park experiences extremely high visitation from April through October. Weekend visitors during peak season can expect the park to reach capacity and temporarily close to new arrivals. A day-use reservation system operates on weekends and holidays from mid-May through late September. Mosquitoes can be significant depending on the season.
