About
Oak Hollow Campground sits approximately 4 miles into Calaveras Big Trees State Park along the main park road, offering a more secluded camping experience compared to the park's entrance area. The campground features 55 campsites (numbered 75-129) spread through a mature pine and oak forest that provides ample shade. Sites accommodate both tents and RVs up to 30 feet in length, though no hookups are available. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, metal fire ring, and bear-proof locker for proper food storage. The campground includes flush restrooms, token-operated showers, and running water. Shower tokens can be purchased with cash from the camp host or at the Ranger Office, or by card at the entrance station. Standard sites accommodate up to 8 people and one vehicle, with a second vehicle permitted for an additional fee. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the park's famous giant sequoia groves and extensive trail system. The park, established in 1931, preserves two groves of giant sequoias in its North and South Grove areas. Wildlife is abundant, including a thriving black bear population, making proper food storage in the provided bear lockers essential. Reservations are available through Reserve California up to 6 months in advance.
