The rain/snow line will be wavering south of the Icy Strait area through this entire time period. Please stay tuned to future updates on this impactful storm. Snowfall rates will pick up again late Monday night, diminish on Tuesday, then pick back up again Tuesday night as a series of waves moves through, though these will be weaker than previous waves.
About
Clover Island State Marine Park sits on the northernmost of the islands between Point Couverdon and Howard Bay in Lynn Canal, locally known as Clover Island. Located midway between Juneau (18 miles west) and Gustavus (25 miles east), this remote marine park is accessible only by boat or floatplane. The park features a 14x18 foot rental cabin that accommodates up to 6 guests, equipped with a woodstove for heat, a fire ring, and a picnic table. Multiple anchorages and beach access points are available, though conditions depend on weather. The area offers exceptional opportunities for wildlife viewing, photography, kayaking, hunting, and sport fishing. Marine mammals are abundant, including humpback whales, orcas, seals, sea lions, and porpoises. Terrestrial wildlife such as brown bears and moose may also be seen. The coastal environment features spruce and hemlock forest, pristine beaches, and fascinating intertidal zones. Visitors should come prepared for Southeast Alaska's wet climate, with average summer highs in the 60s and annual rainfall of 60-90 inches. There is no fresh water source at the cabin, so bring your own water supply. Limited dead and downed wood is available, but bringing your own firewood is recommended. Weather can change quickly and last for days, making proper rain gear and safety equipment essential.
