About

Highlands Hammock State Park Campground is located within one of Florida's original state parks, established in 1931. The campground features sites ranging from open and sunny to partially or fully shaded beneath ancient live oaks and cabbage palms. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with lengths varying from 20 to 50 feet. The campground provides water and electric hookups at each site, with four restroom buildings offering hot showers. Additional amenities include laundry facilities, a dishwashing area, a dump station, and a recreation hall available for rental. Three paved ADA-accessible sites are located near an accessible restroom. The park itself offers nine hiking trails including elevated boardwalks through cypress swamps, a tram tour, and opportunities to see wildlife including white-tailed deer, alligators, and the occasional Florida black bear. Wi-Fi is not available in the campground but can be accessed at the Hammock Inn Concession.
