About
Camp Creek Recreation Area is located in the scenic Little Rockies and consists of Camp Creek Campground, Horse Corral Campground, and Buffington Day Use Area. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the campground offers 20 camping units with tables, fire rings, drinking water, restrooms, picnic shelters, and garbage collection. A system of trails leads from the main campground, making this a popular destination for hikers, birders, and OHV enthusiasts. The area is recognized as a Watchable Wildlife area and serves as a featured stop on Montana's Northeastern Plains Birding Trail. Several small bass and trout fisheries are located within 30 minutes. The nearby town of Zortman offers a store, restaurant, fuel, and gold panning opportunities. Camping is first-come, first-served with no advance reservations accepted.
Directions
From U.S. Highway 191 take the 7-mile Road (7 miles) or Bear Gulch Road (7 miles) to the campground entrance. Signs mark both turns off of Highway 191.
