About

Aquila Vista Recreation Site offers primitive group camping in a forested setting adjacent to a scenic beaver pond with a small waterfall. Managed by the Bureau of Land Management as part of the Molalla River Corridor Recreation Area, the site is designed for groups up to 30 people with parking for 20 vehicles. Amenities include a vault toilet and two group picnic shelters equipped with multiple tables and a metal fire ring. The campground provides direct access to the Molalla River Trail System, an extensive network of over 20 miles of trails for hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. Trails wind through the forested slopes of the Molalla River Valley with occasional views of the Cascade Range. Visitors should be prepared for primitive conditions: there is no potable water, no firewood provided (and collection is prohibited), and no cell phone service. The area is known for mosquitoes in summer months, and poison oak is present. Access requires driving through a locked gate; the combination is provided via email after making a reservation. An emergency payphone is located at Glen Avon Bridge for those without cell service.

Directions

From Molalla, drive east on Main St/OR 211. Veer right at the OR 211/Mathias Road intersection following signs for Feyrer Park. Cross over the Molalla River past Feyrer Park, turn right, and follow signs for Dickey Prairie Rd. Continue south keeping the Dickey Prairie Store on your left. At 3.7 miles past the store, turn right on Molalla Forest Rd and cross Glen Avon Bridge. Continue on Molalla Forest Rd for approximately 7 miles to a yellow gate where you will enter the combination provided via email. Drive another 2 miles up a steep gravel road keeping right until you reach Aquila Vista.
