Lonesome Beaver Campground lies in the heart of Sawmill Basin within Utah's Henry Mountains region, sitting at an elevation exceeding 8,000 feet. This small, primitive BLM campground offers just five sites, making it an ideal destination for campers seeking solitude away from crowded developed campgrounds. The setting in the Mount Ellen-Blue Hills Wilderness Study Area provides access to remote desert landscapes and high-elevation terrain. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, grill, and bench. The campground provides potable water and accessible restrooms. The fee structure is unique: there is no minimum fee, and campers pay what they feel their experience is worth, payable on-site. No reservations are accepted; all sites are first-come, first-served. Access requires traveling 23 miles south of Hanksville on Sawmill Basin Road, which can be challenging due to road conditions. High-clearance vehicles are recommended, and road accessibility varies seasonally depending on weather and snowpack at this elevation.
