About

Quiet and tucked away from the beaten path, Bogard Campground provides a serene camping experience in Lassen National Forest. The campground sits along Pine Creek at 5,600 feet elevation, surrounded by pine trees and beautiful aspens that offer stunning fall colors. With 10 designated sites, including four dedicated equestrian sites with corrals, Bogard serves both traditional campers and horse enthusiasts. The campground is accessed via a 1.75-mile dirt road off Highway 44, about 28 miles west of Susanville. This semi-developed facility offers hand-pumped water (seasonal), vault toilets, and fire rings at each site. No fees are charged for camping. The remote location provides a quiet atmosphere, and the nearby Pine Creek adds to the scenic setting. Northwest of the campground stands the 7,487-foot Bogard Buttes. Bogard Campground serves as a good base for exploring the area, with proximity to Lassen Volcanic National Park to the west. The campground can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 25 feet in length, though sites are pull-in rather than pull-through. The elevation and location mean the campground is typically inaccessible during winter months due to snow.

Directions

From Susanville, take Highway 36 west to Highway 44, then travel west 20 miles on Highway 44 to the campground sign. Turn south on Forest Road 31N26 and continue 1.75 miles to the campground.
