About
Bailey Canyon Campground is a primitive lakeside retreat on Ruth Lake within Six Rivers National Forest's Mad River Ranger District. The campground features approximately 25 sites, with four positioned directly on the waterfront and the remainder tucked into the shade of tall oaks, ponderosa pines, and Douglas fir trees. At 2,700 feet elevation, the mixed conifer forest provides a peaceful setting for campers seeking a quieter alternative to the nearby Fir Cove Campground. Ruth Lake draws boaters, water skiers, anglers, and swimmers throughout the summer season. Fishing opportunities include smallmouth and largemouth bass, catfish, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon, bluegill, and crappie. The Picket Peak Trailhead begins at Bailey Canyon, offering hiking access into the surrounding forest. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Amenities include vault toilets, fire rings, picnic tables, and trash service. Potable water is not available, so campers must bring their own. The maximum RV/trailer length is 22 feet. Sites cost $12 per night with a $5 fee for each additional vehicle. A 14-day stay limit applies.
