About

Ashley Lake South Campground is a tiny, primitive campground tucked along the south shore of Ashley Lake in Montana's Flathead National Forest. With just 2 campsites, this is one of the smallest developed campgrounds in the forest, offering a secluded experience for tent campers seeking lakeside solitude. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table, and a vault toilet serves the campground. The campground provides walk-down boat access ideal for launching kayaks and canoes onto Ashley Lake. Swimming is also popular here during summer months. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. There are no fees to camp, and sites are first-come, first-served with a 5-day stay limit. Access is via Ashley Lake Road #912, which features a sharp hairpin corner that makes this campground unsuitable for RVs and trailers. The campground sees heavy use during summer months, so arriving early is recommended to secure a site.
