Newhalem Creek Campground

About
Newhalem Creek Campground sits in a lush forest of western redcedar, western hemlock, and Douglas-fir within Ross Lake National Recreation Area. The 107-site campground accommodates tent campers and RVs up to 50 feet across three loops, with two additional group sites available for larger parties. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and bear box for food storage. The campground offers flush toilets, potable water, a dump station, and trash/recycling collection. The location provides excellent access to the Newhalem area trail system, the Skagit River for fishing (Washington license required), and the North Cascades Visitor Center just half a mile away. The historic town of Newhalem is about one mile east. Black bears are active in the area, so proper food storage in the provided bear boxes is essential. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov with staggered release windows: Loops A and C open 6 months in advance, Loop B opens 7 days in advance, and group sites open 12 months ahead. Unreserved sites may be claimed same-day on a first-come, first-served basis for one night only.
Directions
Located at milepost 120 on State Route 20. From Burlington, WA, drive 60 miles east on SR-20. From Twisp, WA, drive 82 miles west on SR-20. The campground is just west of the town of Newhalem, 14 miles east of Marblemount.
