Due to the recent discovery of the golden mussel on the Delta which is in close proximity to New Hogan Lake, New Hogan Lake staff will be conducting random vessel inspections at this time. Requirements in order to launch your vessel include having your California boater card, current vessel registration including a current mussel fee sticker, and your vessel must be clean, drained and dried prior to launching. Additional information is available at calling the New Hogan Lake Project Office at 209-772-1343.

About

Coyote Point sits along New Hogan Lake in the brush-covered foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, offering a spacious group camping experience for up to 50 guests. With summer temperatures regularly soaring above 90 degrees, visitors find comfort in the refreshing waters of New Hogan Lake, conveniently accessed from the campground. The site includes a picnic shelter, large grill, vault restroom, and parking for up to 18 vehicles. The 4,400 surface-acre lake was created in 1964 with the completion of New Hogan Dam and now offers year-round fishing for stripers, bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. Boating is popular, with boat ramps located around the lake for water skiing, wake boarding, and jet skiing. The area features hiking trails including the River of Skulls trail below the dam, an eight-mile equestrian trail loop, and bike trails ranging from beginner to advanced. Two 18-hole disc golf courses are located at a nearby recreation area. The New Hogan area supports diverse wildlife including grey fox, mule deer, coyote, turkey, mountain lion, bobcat, and serves as a wintering home for bald eagles. The south shore has been designated as a wildlife viewing area. Hunting is permitted in certain areas during open season. Nearby attractions include historic gold rush sites such as Carson Hill, the discovery site of the largest gold nugget ever found.
