Methodist Cove

Methodist Cove Park sits on the western shore of Harlan County Lake, Nebraska's second largest lake at 13,000 acres. Managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers, this campground provides 133 sites in a mostly forested setting that offers ample shade during summer months. Site options range from basic non-electric tent sites to full-hookup RV sites with 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. Maximum equipment lengths vary by site, with many accommodating RVs up to 55-70 feet. A centrally located heated shower house provides flush toilets and showers, while vault toilets are distributed throughout the park for convenience. Other facilities include a dump station, potable drinking water, playground, and boat ramp. A fish cleaning station with grinder and running water is located near the entrance. Two full-service marinas operate on the lake's east end. Harlan County Lake is popular for fishing walleye, wipers, white bass, northern pike, and channel catfish. The surrounding area offers hunting for pheasant, quail, prairie chicken, deer, turkey, and waterfowl. Hiking trails of varying lengths are available, with an equestrian trail a short drive away.

Directions

From U.S. Highway 80, take Highway 183 south to Alma, Nebraska. Turn left on South Street and travel 2.5 miles. The park entrance is on the south side of the road.
