Goldledge Campground

About

Goldledge Campground is situated along the North Fork of the Kern River in the Upper Kern Canyon, 10 miles north of Kernville. At 3,200 feet elevation, the campground occupies an open area with limited shade overlooking the Kern Wild and Scenic River. Gray pine, scrub oak, grasses, and shrubs cling to the steep canyon walls, while cottonwoods and willows line the riverbanks. The campground offers 37 single-family sites, including approximately 9 walk-to tent camping sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Vault toilets and potable water from a hand pump are available. Maximum trailer length is 30 feet. Sites are reservable through Recreation.gov, with some first-come-first-served availability. Hiking, fishing, kayaking, and whitewater rafting are popular activities in the Upper Kern River area. The Cannell Meadow National Recreation Trail begins just north of Kernville, stretching 11.5 miles to a historic Forest Service cabin. Day trips to Sequoia National Park and Giant Sequoia National Monument are also accessible from this location.

Directions

From Bakersfield, take Highway 178 east to Lake Isabella. From Lake Isabella, take Highway 155 around the west side of the lake to the town of Kernville. From Kernville, go 10 miles north on Sierra Way (Mountain 99) to the campground.
