About

Upper Wolf Creek Group Campground provides a quiet, secluded setting for groups seeking a forest camping experience near Prescott, Arizona. Set at 6,000 feet elevation in a ponderosa pine forest with scattered boulders, the campground is intentionally located away from other developed recreation sites. The thinly spaced trees facilitate group activities and RV parking for vehicles up to 40 feet. The central gathering area includes 13 picnic tables, 5 charcoal grills, and a large fire ring. Recreation amenities include a volleyball/badminton court with net and a horseshoe pit (equipment not provided). A 4-seat vault toilet provides restroom facilities, and garbage service is available. Campers must bring their own drinking water as none is provided on-site. Numerous hiking and mountain biking trails in the Bradshaw Mountains surround the campground, and 15-acre Goldwater Lake is just a few miles away for fishing, boating, and kayaking. The historic town of Prescott is only 8 miles away for supplies and services.

Directions

From Prescott, take Senator Highway (Mt. Vernon Avenue) south for about 6 miles. Pass the entrance to Goldwater Lake and the community of Groom Creek. The pavement ends about 500 feet before Forest Road 97. Turn right onto FR 97 and travel 0.75 miles to the group campground on the right. FR 97 is unpaved but suitable for all vehicles in dry conditions.
