This also includes the Gold Mountain, Elk and Ferris burn scars as well as areas of steep, susceptible terrain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Recent heavy rainfall in southwest Colorado has led to already saturated ground. About

Matterhorn Cabin is a fully equipped 1,800 square foot rental cabin in the Uncompahgre National Forest, set within a forested area with views of Sheep Mountain (13,188 feet). The modern facility sleeps 12 people across five bedrooms with twin bunk beds, plus an upstairs TV room with two sleeper couches. The cabin includes two full bathrooms with flush toilets and showers, a washer/dryer, electricity, and forced air heat. The kitchen is well-equipped with two refrigerators, two electric ovens, a microwave, cookware, dishes, utensils, and a coffee maker. Firewood, cleaning supplies, garbage bags, toilet paper, and dish soap are provided. Guests must bring their own sleeping bags, pillows, bath towels, and toiletries. Cell service is unreliable, but a landline phone is available for local calls and emergencies. The cabin neighbors a groomed cross-country ski area with 10 kilometers of trails for classic skiing, skate skiing, and snowshoeing. The Telluride Ski Area is a 15-minute drive away. No pets are allowed on the cabin compound, and smoking is prohibited indoors.

Directions

From Telluride, drive 3 miles west on State Highway 145 Spur. At the roundabout, turn left onto Highway 145 and proceed south for approximately 10 miles. Turn left at the Matterhorn Cabin sign into the cabin parking area (300 yards past the Matterhorn Campground).
