About

Cabin Camp 4 is one of five historic group cabin camps in Prince William Forest Park, constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the 1930s as part of the Recreational Demonstration Area program. Originally built as a summer camp for children from nearby Washington, DC, the camp has been carefully preserved and recently rehabilitated with new roofs, windows, updated plumbing, and electrical systems meeting current building codes. The camp consists primarily of 10-person sleeping cabins equipped with cots, mattresses, and electrical outlets. Supporting facilities include a commercial dining hall with a 10-burner stove, three ovens, griddle, walk-in refrigerator, freezer, and food warming station. Six restrooms are distributed throughout the camp, with hot showers available in the infirmary building. Craft lodges with fireplaces and outdoor council fire rings provide gathering spaces. Cabin Camp 4 is the only camp in the park featuring a theater building/gymnasium, though it is also the only one without a fireplace in its dining hall. The camp is available year-round by reservation only, requiring an application submitted at least two weeks in advance with a $25 fee. Pets are prohibited except service animals, and RVs/trailers are not permitted.
