Meadows Campground is located on Rabbit Ears Pass in the heart of the Routt National Forest, surrounded by spruce, fir, and lodgepole pine forest. At an elevation of 9,300 feet near the top of the Continental Divide in the Park Range, the campground offers 30 campsites with a mix of pull-through, back-in, and walk-in tent sites. Each site includes a picnic table and fire grate. The campground provides access to excellent outdoor recreation opportunities. Stream fishing is available nearby, and established Forest Service hiking and mountain biking trails can be accessed from the road to Dumont Campground on National Forest Service Road 315. Wildflower viewing is popular during the summer months. The area is home to diverse wildlife including black bear, elk, mule deer, moose, bobcat, and coyote. Facilities include vault toilets and garbage service. Campers must bring their own water as potable water is not available on-site. The campground is situated about 15 miles southeast of Steamboat Springs on US Highway 40, making it easily accessible while still providing a true mountain wilderness experience.
Directions
From Steamboat Springs, travel 15 miles southeast on US Highway 40 to Rabbit Ears Pass. The campground is located on the south side of the highway on Forest Road 297 near the west summit of the pass.
