Cold Spring Campground is a primitive, first-come, first-served campground situated in Taylor Canyon along the Taylor River within the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. With only 6 campsites, this rustic destination offers a quiet camping experience surrounded by aspen and spruce forests. The campground provides excellent access to gold-medal fishing in the Taylor River, which also supports rafting and kayaking. Located at the northern boundary of the Fossil Ridge Wilderness, the area offers opportunities for hiking, backpacking, and horseback riding in pristine natural settings. Campers should note that no potable water is available on site. Camping in Taylor Canyon is restricted to developed Forest Service campgrounds only. Open fires are prohibited within 100 feet of the Taylor River per forest order GMUG-2022-09, which remains in effect through May 31, 2027. OHV use is not authorized within the campground.
