About

Forks Campground occupies a scenic location near the junction of the South Fork and Middle Fork of Bishop Creek in the eastern Sierra Nevada. At 7,800 feet elevation, the 27 campsites are tucked among aspen and pine trees, with several sites offering direct access to the creek. The setting is ideal for fishing, wildlife viewing, and hiking in the surrounding Bishop Creek drainage. The campground offers 18 standard nonelectric sites suitable for RVs and vehicles, plus 8 tent-only sites. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bearproof food storage locker. Facilities include one accessible flush toilet and two vault toilets, with drinking water available from a hand pump. A camphost is present during the operating season. This is an active bear area, and all food must be stored in the provided bear boxes when not in use. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and the maximum stay is 14 days. Campfires may be restricted during hot, dry conditions.

Directions

From Bishop, go west on State Route 168 (Line Street) approximately 15 miles. Turn left at the junction of the South Lake Road; the campground is the first right turn about 1/4 mile.
