Echo Bay Campground
Open year-round. Reservations are required through Recreation.gov. Fire restrictions are in place due to high fire danger, but campfires remain permitted in campground fire rings and grills. The Echo Bay boat launch is open; however, the nearby Hemenway Harbor ramp will have reduced capacity starting June 2, 2026.
About
Echo Bay Campground occupies a prime spot on Lake Mead's Overton Arm, roughly 40 miles north of Henderson via Northshore Road. The NPS-managed campground operates year-round with paved sites suitable for tents and RVs. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring or grill. Mature cottonwood trees, palms, and native desert vegetation provide shade and privacy between sites, with some sites offering lake views. Flush restrooms and water spigots are distributed throughout the campground. The developed Echo Bay area includes a boat launch, fish cleaning station, small store for supplies, and a dump station near the upper campground entrance. The remote location makes it an excellent spot for stargazing. Anglers target the many coves accessible by foot or boat. Nearby attractions include Redstone Picnic Area, Rogers Spring, Blue Point Spring, Valley of Fire State Park, and the historic ruins of St. Thomas. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 100°F from June through August, while winter lows can drop to freezing December through February.
